Dear Sir,
We are pleased to share the good news that the Philippines has been appointed host of
Asia’s first regional Bird Fair in September 2010.
The Wild Bird Club of the Philippines, in partnership with the Philippine Eagle
Foundation, proudly announces that the First Asian Bird Fair will be held in Davao City
from 24 – 26 September 2010, tandem with the 6th Philippine Bird Festival, the country’s
premier conservation and eco-tourism event.
The First Asian Bird Fair is a common initiative of the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines,
the Bird Conservation Society of Thailand, the Chinese Wild Bird Federation, the Wild
Bird Society of Taipei, the Malaysian Nature Society and the Nature Society of
Singapore.
The Asian Bird Fair, which highlights the respective bird festivals of the participating
countries, seeks to enrich eco-tourism through birdwatching and promote the natural and
cultural heritage of host cities.
Together with the 6th Philippine Bird Festival, the Asian Bird Fair is expected to draw bird
watchers, conservationists, eco-tourism promoters, sustainable development providers,
and nature lovers from around the country, Asia, Europe and the USA.
Besides gathering bird societies and conservation organizations over the past five years,
the Philippine Bird Festival, together with the First Asian Bird Fair, are endorsed by the
Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Tourism.
We have the honor of inviting your organization to take part in the 1st Asian Bird Fair.
Your organization will be given a booth to exhibit your activities and sell merchandise,
i.e. birding equipment as well as food products and crafts from your region. The WBCP
will also provide local transport in Davao City from the airport to the hotel and full board
and lodging for two delegates from September 23-27, 2010.
We will send the schedule of activities and post-festival birdwatching tour schedule later.
